WEC Pay Per View Next Year
Dana White has announced that WEC will be airing programming on pay-per-view, this according to Yahoo! Sports. The WEC entrance would increase an already crowded pay-per-view venue but the WEC has a decided advantage in that it uses the same marketing engine that powers the number one MMA promotion in the world, the UFC.
Here’s the quote,
“We have a track record and all you have to do is see what we’ve done in the past to know what we’re going to do with this thing. There are a lot of moving parts right now. I have a million and one things on my plate. But I know this: The WEC is stacked with talent and there are a lot of exciting fights that we can make.
“We’re going to do what we do and market the (expletive) out of this and build it day by day. The fighters are there, too, believe me. We’re not new at this thing.”
Some would argue that WEC is moving into position to become the second most successful MMA promotion which would make Zuffa all the more powerful. WEC has shown increased viewership and boasts several top tier fighters including pound for pound top 10 Urijah Faber.

Quinton (Rampage) Jackson pleads not guilty after crashes
SANTA ANA, Calif. — A lawyer for former mixed martial arts champion Quinton (Rampage) Jackson said Thursday her client was delusional when he led police on a chase and struck several cars last month.
Jackson, a light heavyweight, pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony counts of evading a peace officer, evading a peace officer against traffic and misdemeanour hit-and-run and reckless driving. He is free on US$25,000 bail.
Lawyer Carol Lavacot said the 30-year-old fighter was betrayed by a close friend and hadn't slept for three days before the July 15 incident. Lavacot would only say that the betrayal was about finances.
During the episode, Lavacot said, Jackson believed if he fell asleep he would die and kept himself awake with energy drinks. She said he also believed that he had to get to another friend's house to save him from dying and was on his way there when he hit several cars and police began chasing him.
"For those people that know Quinton, they know that he's a very kind, gentle giving person and he feels so badly about his actions," she said in a telephone interview.
"He takes complete full responsibility for what happened, but he was delusional during that ride down to his friend's house and really believed that it was a matter of life or death."
After his arrest, Jackson spent five days in the hospital for mental evaluation, she said.
Lavacot said psychiatrists who treated him found that he suffered a "brief reactive psychosis" brought on by stress, dehydration and exhaustion but that he recovered quickly and has very limited memories of the chase.
Jackson lost his Ultimate Fighting Championship title July 5 to Forrest Griffin.
UFC spokeswoman Jennifer Wenk referred calls to authorities.
Deputy District Attorney Keith Bogardus had no comment on Jackson's mental health or the evaluation at the hearing Thursday.

Preliminary bouts confirmed for EliteXC card
EliteXC Vice President Gary Shaw confirmed a number of preliminary bouts for EliteXC: Saturday Night Fights III on Oct. 4.
EliteXC: Saturday Night Fights III emanates from the BankAtlantic Center near Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Already confirmed for the card are five blockbuster fights, including a heavyweight showdown between Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson and mixed martial arts pioneer Ken Shamrock in the main event.
In addition, Jake Shields defends the welterweight crown against Paul Daley, Murilo "Ninja" Rua meets Benji Radach, and two female tilts will take place. The first features the face of female MMA — Gina Carano — go head to head with Kelly Kobold-Gavin, plus Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, the wife of veteran Evangelista Santos, is slated to square off against Yoko Takahashi.
On the preliminary card, Edson Berto (14-5-1) will meet Mike Aina (9-6-1), while Crafton Wallace (15-3-1) and Lorenzo Borgomeo (4-0) are also scheduled to see action.
Berto was last seen at EliteXC: Street Certified in February, where he was KO'd by Yves Edwards after a unique flying knee. He was also vanquished by current 160-pound champion K.J. Noons at a ShoXC event last July. To re-establish himself in a division besieged by controversy, he needs to get past a reputable opponent in Aina.
Aina is coming off a win at EliteXC: Return of the King, where he recorded a unanimous decision against Kaleo Kwan, his second victory over the "Eastsidaz" fighter. Prior to the win, however, Aina put up an impressive showing against top contender Nick Diaz at EliteXC: Uprising in September. While he lost the fight by split decision, Aina gave the Cesar Gracie jiu-jitsu black belt all he can handle.
In the second prelim fight, Wallace, a one-time UFC fighter, rides a four-fight winning streak into his bout against a yet-to-be-named opponent. During his time with the Zuffa-based promotion, Wallace was defeated twice, losing to two of the company's premier middleweights, Martin Kampmann and Nate Marquardt.
On Oct. 4, Borgomeo will have his second fight under the EliteXC banner. In his promotional debut at EliteXC: Street Certified, he submitted Mike Bernhard in the second round. In his four-fight career, Borgomeo has yet to go to the distance and has stopped all his adversaries within 15 minutes.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Joins Wolfslair Team
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s departure from Juanito Ibarra has reached it’s conclusion and the fighter has signed a three year deal with Wolfslair team, a team that boasts Michael Bisping and Paul Kelly. The news was first reported by FightersOnlyMagazine.co.uk wh spoke directly to Wolfslair gym owners Anthone McGann and Lee Gwynne. Here’s the quote from Jackson about the switch:
“Michael Bisping took to me like a brother from the first time I met him. He and Anthony were very hospitable towards me when I first came to the UK.
“I feel like Wolfslair can make me go farther than I have been; I’m really excited about being able to travel there to train. The guys on the team, they like to laugh and joke around but they train hard and that’s me, that’s what I like to do.”
The team is based in liverpool and many MMA insiders are wondering how this move factors into his current legal problems. According to the interview Jackson was in good humour and excited about the deal and England itself.

Dana White Says Rampage Will Fight
UFC president Dana White has gone on the record and said that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will be fighting this year, regardless of his legal problems and he could be fighting as early as November 15th. Here’s the quote via Yahoo! Sports:
“Of course he’ll fight. If he was doing drugs, if he had been drunk, if he had gone out there and done what he did because he was pissed off at someone, that would be a completely different story. But he was ill. And in this company, we support our friends and anyone who works for us when they’re ill and have problems. He was ill, the incident occurred, and now he’s fine.
“Rampage feels awful about the woman’s baby, but he had nothing to do with it. And the (traffic incident) occurred because he was very ill and not with him in control of his faculties.”
The situation is a strange one to say the least, with some MMA fans definitely turning on the former light heavyweight champion. Jackson is said to be facing Shogun, though there’s no official confirmation at this time.

Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock at EliteXC On CBS 3
According to Sherdog, Kimbo Slice (3-0) will take on legendary UFC fighter Ken Shamrock (26-13-2) at the next EliteXC-CBS event slated for October 4 from the Bank America Arena in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
An official press release is expected later today to announce the event.
It was well rumored that Slice would either take on Ken Shamrock or Brett Rogers and it was pretty clear that EliteXC wasn’t going to risk the fight with Rogers.
44 year old Shamrock hasn’t won a fight since 2004, with his last loss coming by way of KO by Robert “Buzz” Berry at Cage Rage 25.

Tonight’s night of fights starts with two very eager fighters… The fight starts out with both fighters swingin’ Carlos Nevarez (12-16-1) pushes the tempo of the fight for the majority of the round, both fighters keeping a steady pace throughout the round. Midway through the second Nevarez landed a power punch that rocked Ventry a few steps back, again both fighters keeping a steady pace. Nevarez finished round three with a crowd pleasing barrage of punches to the face and body of Ventry. Throughout the fight Ventry landed very good selective punches while Nevarez put together good combos… At the end the judges deemed a winner by majority decision of 57-57, 58-56, 58-56 winner Carlos Nevarez.
Loren Myers vs. Joaquin Marquez
Joaquin Marquez ( 3-0-1)starts the fight with an interesting move… a double punch to the temples of his opponent Loren Myers(6-3). All throughout the fight Joaquin lands quick clean punches that are sharp and to the point. In the second round Joaquin lands a few solid punches out of many that rocked his opponent. Loren Myers didn’t just take it though he landed solid punches as well leaving both fighters going to their corners bleeding. Last chance round… Joaquin comes out and is an absolute animal, the only way Loren Myers gets away from Marquez’s fists is to grab hold until the referee breaks it up or by running around the ring away from his opponent… literally! It was a close match but someone obviously was a winner… Joaquin Marquez winner surprisingly by majority decision of 38-38, 39-37, 40-36.
Dominga Oliva vs. Ana Julaton
From opposites sides of the country these two women came together with one purpose… to win the vacant WBC International Women’s Super Bantamweight Championship Bout. All eight rounds were action packed and full of power punches. Both women came out ready to go the distance… and they did. Ana took control in the early rounds, but seemed to fade in the middle rounds giving Dominga Olivo time to shine never loosing her steam to push the fight . After eight rounds a split decision makes Dominga Olivo the new champion blemishing Ana’s perfect record.
Greg McDowell vs. Aaron Alafa
There obviously is a reason why Aaron Alafa is undefeated… The bell rang, :19 seconds later the fight was over. Greg McDowell, making his pro debut came out bouncy and ready to go. His inexperience showed when he walked right into a huge right hand and he fell to the ground.
Galen Brown vs. Dewey Cooper
I didn’t know if these two boxers actually fought ten rounds or they just replayed the same round ten times… By the sixth round I felt like I was at a NASCAR race. Dewey Cooper pressed the fight, kept the pressure on Galen Brown… Cooper would box Brown into a corner land some solid punches, Brown would dance/ run his way into another corner and the same thing. Repeat for ten rounds. The most exciting part of this fight? THE LAST 15 SECONDS! With no surprise a unanimous decision of 99-91 was given to the rightful winner Dewey Cooper.
Yahaira Martinez vs. Carina Moreno
Carina Moreno is no stranger to defending her title. This is her 4th defense of her title. This one went all the way. These two women know their way around ring. The first and second rounds the two exchanged pretty evenly, but Carina still had the upper hand. Yahaira Martinez is no slouch in the ring, she knows what she is doing, it just seemed like through all ten rounds Carina knew that she was going to keep her title, and she fought hard to keep it. Caina was constantly was putting the pressure on Yahaira. Carina landed very heavy hits to all parts of Yahaira’s body. At the end the judges scored a unanimous decision of 97-93, 100-90, 100-90 for Carina Moreno still the champ.
Andrew Greeley vs. Manuel Quezada
Two big boys goin’ at it for ten rounds. This was an exciting championship bout for the night. Manuel Quezada and Andrew Greeley fought a good fight. Manuel rocked all ten rounds, he kept the pressure on his opponent throwing solid punches is what gave him his win. This was a very dominant fight Andrew fought his heart out but it wasn’t enough to get the job done… All three judges scored the bout 100-90 in favor of Manuel Quezada.
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS BOUTS

Shawn gets Marcus’ back and quickly taps him out by strikes making Shawn Bias winner by submission 2:58 in round 1
Hussein Rousali vs. Tito Jones

The two circle and exchange some punches and Tito finally gets the takedown with the potential for an armbar, but he lets it go for better positioning. Rousali gets back to his feet but not before almost getting a fast and furious kick to the head. Rousali turns the tables and takes down Jones, Tito Jones is able to flip control and sink a rear naked choke until the referee stops the fight 2:02 in the first making Tito Jones winner by Rear Naked Choke
Sal Farnetti vs. Lavar Johnson
Another 1st round fight. These two were going at it like wild animals. Lavar Johnson was the first to catch a clean left to the jaw of Sal Farnetti, barely phasing him. They exchange more strikes so Sal can get the takedown with ½ control. From the bottom Lavar tries to suffocate Sal, and almost does, until he just let go to advance his position… and he does. Lavar takes Sal’s back and lets loose a fury of fists until the referee calls a stop to the fight 2:14 in the first. Winner Lavar Johnson TKO due to strikes.
Jose Mendez vs. Rocky Molina
This fight is the most exciting of the whole night… both fighters come out ready to rumble exchanging heavy, hard blows as soon as the bell rings. Jose gets a takedown with a tight choke. Rocky hangs in there and is patient and finally gets out. Rocky gets control of the situation moving to side control. Jose hits Rocky with some heavy knees from the bottom and gets enough control to sink another choke, and holds on tight until the bell rings. Round two starts with a standoff but Rocky quickly gets a takedown with full mount delivering solid hits to the ribs of Jose. Round three is a slugfest, Rocky gets Jose’s back and attempts a choke, but it’s no good. Back to their feet and the slugfest continued until it was over. Bias makes long awaited return to the PFC Tonight
By Jeremy Luchau - The PFC/PHOTO by (SHERDOG)
LEMOORE, CA — It’s been eight months since Shawn Bias has stepped into the ring.
The Oroville mixed martial artists as been recovering from injuries sustained in a struggle with police officers in his hometown.
Bias (12-6) allegedly ran from officers outside an apartment complex in Oroville at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20. Oroville police were called to investigate a disturbance and upon making contact with the 22-year-old, the former PFC Featherweight Champion reportedly ran and ignored orders from police to stop or be shot by a taser.
According to the Chico Enterprise Recorder, Bias was eventually caught by two officers and was tased a total of five times according to Oroville Police Chief Kirk Trostle. Some of the tasings were “drive stuns” which involves the taser making direct contact with the victim.
Bias was restrained and taken to the Oroville Hospital where he was treated for a heart attack and went into kidney failure.
He has since made a full recovery and ready to make his return to the PFC ring.
“Since the incident I have refocused and started to appreciate my life and the abilities I have been given,” said Bias, who is slated for a 3-round battle Palace Fighting Championship comeback fight with Paradise’s Marcus Blood (2-3) on Thursday at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore.
“Since the incident, I’ve had an uphill battle. I was told fighting would most likely never happen again for me. That brought tears to my eyes. Then I decided to focus and prove them wrong,” Bias added. “I had to go through dialysis and after my kidneys were fully functional after a month of hell, my doctor told me to take things slow, but I wanted and needed to get back in the ring and now here I am.”
Bias was one of the more loved fighters in the PFC, fighting in four of the first six PFC shows. He opened his PFC career on the inaugural card by beating Stockton’s Brandon Jinnies (3-8); he captured the vacant featherweight crown in June of 2007 by submitting Aaron Maldonado (4-2).
Then things got shaky in January of 2008. On the 17th Bias lost his belt by submission to Oakdale’s Art Arciniega (6-2). It wasn’t Bias’ best performance and there were rumors that he fought with an infected tooth and pneumonia.
Three days later he was in a struggle for his life.
“I’m excited to see Shawn healthy, focused and living a lifestyle that is conducive to him getting the most out of his career,” PFC President Christian Printup added. “He’s been given a second chance on many levels and I am sure you’ll see him fight every fight from this point on like it is his last.”
Don’t expect to see the same Bias.
“My training has been a lot different now. I’ve done a lot of cardio, which I have not done in the past. I’ve started to strength train and I’m stronger than ever. And just being healthy gives me a clear mind in the gym,” Bias said. “I’m hungry. I have that aggressiveness again. I love training now. For a long time I had lost my drive and I couldn’t seem to find it. Now I can’t train enough. I was ready to get back in the ring as soon as I woke up from my comma. I just had to put in the work. The first question I asked after I knew what went on that night, was can I still fight.”
That question will be answered Thursday.
“You know that Bias is always going to be colorful, he has always had the physical tools, but the fight game, much like the life game, is won upstairs,” Printup said. “You have to have the right mind set. He has put on a lot of muscle since his injuries and during his time off I know he’s had a lot of time to reflect on his past transgressions. We’ll see where he is at, though, it’s been a long lay off.”
For ticket information visit the Tachi Palace Gift Shop, www.tickets.com or call 1.800.225 2277.
Fights will start at the conclusion of the 9-bout boxing card.
In other MMA action;
—Sacramento featherweight Tito Jones (4-2) vs. Sacramento’s Hussain Rassouli (0-0).
—Madera heavyweight Lavar Johnson (7-2) vs. Los Angeles’ Sal Farnetti (2-1).
—Visalia heavyweight Rocky Molina (0-2) vs. Oakhurt’s James Rodriguez (1-0).

Lemoore, CA-
The Palace Fighting Championship (PFC)®, which enjoys a television broadcast deal with Comcast SportsNet announced today, the addition of eighteen fighters from the USA, Brazil and Japan to promotional contracts which will not only change the landscape of many of the organizations weight divisions, but also serves as a strong indication of the promotions continued growth and commitment to providing fans with competitive and compelling matchup’s featuring well established veterans and some of the most promising up and coming talents in the world.

We just focus on making the PFC® the best we can and today’s announcement is another step in the process. I am a firm believer that if you spend more time worrying about what other people are doing and not your own product and fan base then you’re doomed. I cannot wait to get some of these guys on TV in a hurry!” Stated Christian Printup, PFC President.

Many of the recently signed fighters will debut at PFC 11 on November 20th at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, CA. Some will be in seperate action, some will take on current PFC standouts And some will face each other.
Regardless, this definitely sends a message that the PFC is a show fighters must work their way up to.
We may have started out with a different plan, but the proof is in the pudding, we are the best and biggest "mid-level" show in the USA and any fighter currently in the PFC or those who aspire to be need to fully realize that we are not a show to come to if you have glaring holes in your game.
