Fight #1 Carlos Nevarez vs. James Ventry
Tonight’s night of fights starts with two very eager fighters… The fight starts out with both fighters swingin’ Carlos Nevarez (12-16-1) pushes the tempo of the fight for the majority of the round, both fighters keeping a steady pace throughout the round. Midway through the second Nevarez landed a power punch that rocked Ventry a few steps back, again both fighters keeping a steady pace. Nevarez finished round three with a crowd pleasing barrage of punches to the face and body of Ventry. Throughout the fight Ventry landed very good selective punches while Nevarez put together good combos… At the end the judges deemed a winner by majority decision of 57-57, 58-56, 58-56 winner Carlos Nevarez.
Loren Myers vs. Joaquin Marquez
Joaquin Marquez ( 3-0-1)starts the fight with an interesting move… a double punch to the temples of his opponent Loren Myers(6-3). All throughout the fight Joaquin lands quick clean punches that are sharp and to the point. In the second round Joaquin lands a few solid punches out of many that rocked his opponent. Loren Myers didn’t just take it though he landed solid punches as well leaving both fighters going to their corners bleeding. Last chance round… Joaquin comes out and is an absolute animal, the only way Loren Myers gets away from Marquez’s fists is to grab hold until the referee breaks it up or by running around the ring away from his opponent… literally! It was a close match but someone obviously was a winner… Joaquin Marquez winner surprisingly by majority decision of 38-38, 39-37, 40-36.
Dominga Oliva vs. Ana Julaton
From opposites sides of the country these two women came together with one purpose… to win the vacant WBC International Women’s Super Bantamweight Championship Bout. All eight rounds were action packed and full of power punches. Both women came out ready to go the distance… and they did. Ana took control in the early rounds, but seemed to fade in the middle rounds giving Dominga Olivo time to shine never loosing her steam to push the fight . After eight rounds a split decision makes Dominga Olivo the new champion blemishing Ana’s perfect record.
Greg McDowell vs. Aaron Alafa
There obviously is a reason why Aaron Alafa is undefeated… The bell rang, :19 seconds later the fight was over. Greg McDowell, making his pro debut came out bouncy and ready to go. His inexperience showed when he walked right into a huge right hand and he fell to the ground.
Galen Brown vs. Dewey Cooper
I didn’t know if these two boxers actually fought ten rounds or they just replayed the same round ten times… By the sixth round I felt like I was at a NASCAR race. Dewey Cooper pressed the fight, kept the pressure on Galen Brown… Cooper would box Brown into a corner land some solid punches, Brown would dance/ run his way into another corner and the same thing. Repeat for ten rounds. The most exciting part of this fight? THE LAST 15 SECONDS! With no surprise a unanimous decision of 99-91 was given to the rightful winner Dewey Cooper.
Yahaira Martinez vs. Carina Moreno
Carina Moreno is no stranger to defending her title. This is her 4th defense of her title. This one went all the way. These two women know their way around ring. The first and second rounds the two exchanged pretty evenly, but Carina still had the upper hand. Yahaira Martinez is no slouch in the ring, she knows what she is doing, it just seemed like through all ten rounds Carina knew that she was going to keep her title, and she fought hard to keep it. Caina was constantly was putting the pressure on Yahaira. Carina landed very heavy hits to all parts of Yahaira’s body. At the end the judges scored a unanimous decision of 97-93, 100-90, 100-90 for Carina Moreno still the champ.
Andrew Greeley vs. Manuel Quezada
Two big boys goin’ at it for ten rounds. This was an exciting championship bout for the night. Manuel Quezada and Andrew Greeley fought a good fight. Manuel rocked all ten rounds, he kept the pressure on his opponent throwing solid punches is what gave him his win. This was a very dominant fight Andrew fought his heart out but it wasn’t enough to get the job done… All three judges scored the bout 100-90 in favor of Manuel Quezada.
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS BOUTS
Marcus Blood vs. Shawn Bias
This fight was immediately taken to the ground by Shawn Bias. After struggling with Marcus Blood whether or not to keep the fight on the ground Shawn works different control positions moving from side, back, full control. Shawn gets Marcus’ back and quickly taps him out by strikes making Shawn Bias winner by submission 2:58 in round 1
Hussein Rousali vs. Tito Jones
Early in the round Tito Jones shoots in for a takedown and struggles to get Hussein Rousali to the ground. The two circle and exchange some punches and Tito finally gets the takedown with the potential for an armbar, but he lets it go for better positioning. Rousali gets back to his feet but not before almost getting a fast and furious kick to the head. Rousali turns the tables and takes down Jones, Tito Jones is able to flip control and sink a rear naked choke until the referee stops the fight 2:02 in the first making Tito Jones winner by Rear Naked Choke
Sal Farnetti vs. Lavar Johnson
Another 1st round fight. These two were going at it like wild animals. Lavar Johnson was the first to catch a clean left to the jaw of Sal Farnetti, barely phasing him. They exchange more strikes so Sal can get the takedown with ½ control. From the bottom Lavar tries to suffocate Sal, and almost does, until he just let go to advance his position… and he does. Lavar takes Sal’s back and lets loose a fury of fists until the referee calls a stop to the fight 2:14 in the first. Winner Lavar Johnson TKO due to strikes.
Jose Mendez vs. Rocky Molina
This fight is the most exciting of the whole night… both fighters come out ready to rumble exchanging heavy, hard blows as soon as the bell rings. Jose gets a takedown with a tight choke. Rocky hangs in there and is patient and finally gets out. Rocky gets control of the situation moving to side control. Jose hits Rocky with some heavy knees from the bottom and gets enough control to sink another choke, and holds on tight until the bell rings. Round two starts with a standoff but Rocky quickly gets a takedown with full mount delivering solid hits to the ribs of Jose. Round three is a slugfest, Rocky gets Jose’s back and attempts a choke, but it’s no good. Back to their feet and the slugfest continued until it was over. The judges gave the unanimous decision of 30-26 to Rocky Molina.
