Elite XC continues to build up both the hype and the roster surrounding it’s female mma promotions, and they have added a womans match between standouts Shayna Baszler and Cristiane Cyborg. The match takes place on Saturday June 26th at the Stockton Arena in California, as part of EliteXC: Unfinished Business card which will feature three title defenses.
Baszler has a mixed martial arts record of 9 wins and 4 loses, but has won her last four which came after a loss to Tara Larosa early in 2007. Baszler is trained by Affliction MMA fighter and former UFC champ Josh Barnett, so you know she’s well versed in catch wrestling. In fact her record shows she’s won all her fights by submission, her last being against Keiko Tamai on ShoXC: Elite Challenger series.
Cyborg has many mma insiders thinking she could be the real deal, as she has a great trainer in husband Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos and sports an mma record of 4 and 0, though those fights have only been for a Brazilian local promotion.
The July 26th card is getting better and better, and the winner of the fight will more than likely take on Gina Carano for the newly created EliteXC Women’s Championship. Here’s the entire roster:
