PFC 9 "The Return" Results/Pics

Alex Ortiz vs. Javier Cervantes



Alex Ortiz was taken down by Javier Cervantes early in the first round. Alex returns in the second round with a takedown over Javier. Alex continues to dominate the round on the ground with strikes until referee Jason McCoy stops the fight 58 seconds into the second round making Alex Ortiz winner by KO due to strikes.

Paul Gonzales vs. Alfredo Mirales



Paul starts off immediately by pressing the fight exchanging strikes with Alfredo . Paul takes Alfredo to the ground and secures back control. The fight is ended by submission only 1:51 seconds into the first, making Paul winner by tapout due to a rear naked choke submission.

Mickey “D” Martinez vs Chayondray Johnson




Mickey and Chayondray start the fight by exchanging punches in the middle of the ring. Mickey quickly shifts and takes the fight to the ground with a takedown . The fight continues on the ground with both fighters exchanging punches and control. Mickey ends the fight only 1:31 seconds into the first round by strikes being deemed winner by KO.

Ulysses Gomez vs Hector Alex Sandoval



The quickest fight of the night so far. The fight starts and ends with Ulysses was in control the entire time starting things off with a takedown and quickly ends the fight with an armbar making Hector verbally tapout 51 seconds into the first. Ulysses wins easily keeping his record undefeated.

Doug “the rhino” Marshall vs Phil “The pain” Collins



The return former WEC Champion Doug “the rhino” Marshall had the crowd to their feet for the entire fight. Phil Collins is a well rounded fighter and a good match-up for Doug. Doug and Phil stood and exchanged punches and kicks early in the first round. Both fighters had turns bringing one another to the ground, but the fighters returned to their feet. Phil rocked Doug in the first but Doug recovered quickly. In the beginning of the second both fighters came out ready to rock. Just a quickly as the round started it was over. Doug and Phil continued where they left off from the first round with exchanging good solid punches. Doug delivered some hard hits including a hard right to the temple of Phil ending the fight 40 seconds into the second round. Doug the rhino Marshall’s hand was raised in victory winner by KO due to strikes.

Dominique Robinson vs Chuck Kim



Dominique comes out delivering kicks to Chuck Kim immediately after the bell rang. After Kim received a heavy kick to his left leg the fighters stayed clinched up for most of the first round. Dominique and Chuck separate late in the first and Kim shoots for a takedown and get rocked with a hard hit from Dominique taking the fight to the ground for the rest of the round. In the second the fighters quickly hook up in a clinch. After being separated by the referee Dominique get control of Chuck Kim on the ground and unleashes a fury of punches until the referee stops the fight 2 minutes into the second. Dominique the clear winner with a KO by way of strikes.

Luchau vs Juan Lopez



An early take down by Juan Lopez starts this fight. Juan keeps working delivering punches to Jeremy for most of round 1. After being broken up by the referee with only 30 seconds left in round 1 Juan ends the round with a takedown. Round 2 starts with kicks from Jeremy meant for his opponent but nothing but misses. Juan takes Jeremy across the ring and takes the fight to the ground once again. Juan quickly taps out Jeremy with a rear naked choke, making him winner by submission :33 seconds into round 2.

Jamie Jara vs Marcus Gaines



Marcus Gaines comes out ready to fight delivering punches and kicks to Jamie Jara. After a hard knee to Jara the fight goes to the ground and Jamie quickly lets “the cucui” out and gains control over Marcus. Jamie dominates Marcus and gets him into a Guillotine chock hold, Marcus was powerless to get out and the fight was ended 1:54 into the round. Jamie Jara was deemed winner by submission due to Guillotine choke.

Darren Crisp Jr vs Joe “the hammer” Soto



This fight was over just as quickly as it started. Joe Soto immediately took the fight to the ground to avoid the hands of Darren Crisp. After working on the ground for only a few seconds Joe Soto catches Darren with a kneebar and Darren taps. Only 1:08 into the first round Joe Soto is named winner by submission by way of tapout.

Jorge “ Van Damme” Oliveira vs Isaiah Larson




The entire first round Jorge and Isaiah exchanged strikes and kicks with only one takedown by Oliveira with :45 seconds left in the round. Both the fighters finished the round on their feet and swinging. The second round began with a takedown by Isaiah. Jorge was able to keep Isaiah’s hand in control and bring the fight back to their feet. This round ended with a takedown by Isaiah with a full mount. Jorge fights back gaining control but has no time and the round ends with Jorge in control of Isaiah. Round three things get interesting. Only :36 seconds into the round and both fighters fall out of the ring into the judges and photographers laps. Jorge unfortunately is inured and takes full advantage of the five minute recovery time allowed. After a few minutes Jorge decides that he is unable to continue and referee Herb Dean calls an end to the fight. Since the fight did not go a full three round it was called a no contest.

Casey “the underdog” Olson vs Tito “thrill” Jones




The final fight of the night. Ttio and Casey both come out ready to fight. Ttio starts with a kick to the head of Casey Olson. He isn’t fazed much by it and both fighters exchange punches throughout the round. Tito delivers a hard kick to the upperbody of Casey, and he attempts a take down with :49 left in the round. He finally gets Ttio to the ground but with only :17 left the round ends with both fighters in a clinch. On the second round Casey attempts another take down after struggling finally gets Ttio to the ground with 1:28 left in the round. Fighters remain on the ground again for the rest of the round with Casey in control. The last round went all the way to the end Casey attempting takedowns and both fighters circling the ring. The winner Casey Olson by unanimous decision 29-28. Great night of fights.

Also the PFC announced that Phil Baroni will take on Olaf alfanso at PFC 10 friday September 26th.
