Donruss officials have announced plans to expand their line of non-traditional trading cards into mixed martial arts.
With the release of Donruss Americana II, Ring Kings will feature some of the top stars in MMA, including three-time UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture, reigning UFC welterweight titleholder Matt Serra, World Extreme Cagefighting kingpin Urijah Faber and Canadian superstar Georges St. Pierre. Rich Franklin, Forrest Griffin and Dan Henderson will also be included.
“Everyone in Ring Kings represents one of the fastest-rising superstars in the world of sports based on the country’s overwhelming fascination with mixed martial arts,” Donruss spokesman Scott Prusha said. “We’re thrilled to be able to create what, for most of these guys, will be their first trading cards and autograph cards.”
Donruss has produced promotional cards and will begin distributing them this month, including some autograph and memorabilia cards. The company will unveil the actual set of Ring Kings in this summer’s release of Americana II.
